Endoscopic Forehead Lift

The natural aging process is one of the inevitable factors we cannot escape as we age. Our skin starts to manifest the signs of old age as well as some physical conditions that go along with it. The most obvious signs of aging are wrinkles, loose skin, and frown lines. One of the oldest cosmetic procedures to help us hide our age lines is the forehead lift, otherwise known as brow lift. This type of procedure has evolved into three kinds. One is the endoscopic forehead lift, another is the coronal forehead lift, and lastly, the subcutaneous forehead lift.

An endoscope is an instrument used in Endoscopy which helps doctors to look inside the human body for medical reasons. This is a flexible material that aids to give visualization of the insides of the human body via its tiny camera on one end. This is typically used in medical operations and other procedures.

An endoscopic forehead lift uses this kind of technology to aid the plastic surgeon in properly doing the said procedure. The surgery involves making four to six short incisions, about an inch long, behind you hairline which will be used to insert the endoscope. Other arms on the endoscope instrument have actual surgical tools that will perform most of the procedure such as cutting and grasping. The endoscope, guided and monitored by your surgeon, uses a fixation device known as an Endotine. It is a kind of an implant that hangs and affixes some of your skin into drill holes in the skull.

Your surgeon will free some tissues of your forehead from your skull and will lift them upward and incorporate them onto the Endotines to hold them in place. This is how the endoscopic forehead lift is done. The Endotines will be absorbed by the body in about four to seven months after the procedure and your repositioned forehead tissues will heal on its new position in about one to two months.

Endoscopic forehead lift is the newest addition to the forehead lift procedures. It has only been started as a cosmetic procedure in 1995 that’s why the results, as of now, cannot be determined just yet if they will be permanent or long lasting enough to withstand the continuous aging process of humans. There are some patients who have undergone the procedure who can still feel the Endotine implants under their skin after several months since their endoscopic procedure.
