Breast Reduction Lift

Breast reduction lift is meant for women who have very large pendulous breasts. This is mostly seen in woman with too many children and to women who get pregnant as soon as childbirth. Prolonged feeding and too many pregnancies will lead to tremendous large breasts that are droopy. Such woman will experience various medical problems like back pain, shoulder pain, lower back pain, upper back pain, disability to the spine position, breathing problem etc.

Breast reduction is medically known as mammoplasty. It surgically removes fat, skin, and glandular tissues making the breasts small in size and firm. The areola also can be reduced along with this.

Breast reduction belongs to the category of physical relief rather than for cosmetic purpose. It is not meant for women who are intending to breast-feed. So it is mainly done in a later stage of a women’s life. The patient should be aware of the procedure thoroughly as it is a complicated procedure compared to other cosmetic surgeries. It may cause bleeding and even the pain may vary. Even the anesthesia can be complicated leading to sever medical problems. The surgery may give a feeling of absence of the nipples for a long period. Because the milk ducts do get damaged, it is not recommended for young women.

The surgery will be performed after a considerable lengthy discussion with the patient mainly about the risk factors and insurance coverage. Different from other breast surgeries, this is done as an inpatient procedure under general anesthesia. The most performed surgery for breast reduction is the anchor-shaped surgery. This leads to scars that are not very much visible.

After the surgery, the patient will be wrapped in a surgical bra, and a tube will be inserted to both breasts to remove unwanted blood and fluids for a day or two. The bandages can be removed, but the patient will have to wear the surgical bra for two to three weeks to avoid swelling and bruising. Later, the sutures will be removed and the suture area should be kept dry. The pain will subside after a couple of weeks. The patient should refrain from doing all normal activities like pushing lifting etc. Apart from this, the patient should also wear a good supporting bra that will maintain a good shape. The doctor may also advise new dietary measures in order to maintain the breasts in a normal size along with mild exercise.
